Church Development Stage 1B
Phase 1B started on Monday 23rd April 2007 and is programmed to last 9 weeks. The work includes refurbishment of the Church Hall toilets, refurbishment of the Church Offices and Leyland Room (Coffee Cup area) and construction of a new external courtyard between the Hall and Lower Lounge. View plan ............here.
This phase will have a greater impact on our activities with various groups having to be temporarily displaced. We are working closely with the Contractor to minimise any disruption. Access to the Church and Lower Lounge will still be by the side entrance. The Hall will be accessible via the new concrete path alongside the Dovecote Bookshop and through glazed external doors on the south side. See picture..... below

Excavation for the new drainage and water main has been delayed by the poor condition of some existing services and by them turning up in unexpected locations! The good news is the Contractor expects to begin landscaping and forming the new paved area the first week in June 2007.
Internally, plastering is proceeding in the new toilet block and office area. Floor finishes, tiling, electrics etc. will follow and it is planned the rooms will be ready for occupation again during the last week of June.
The most demanding and exciting phase of the project, involving major alterations to the church and construction of the new entrance is due to start on 9th July 2007.
